A Research Trip to Remember

This research trop to Seattle was the kick off for Gelato's Billionaire Bachelor Cove project. Each author has included elements of the trip into their book. Like Holly Stevenson who said, "Lincoln and Kate take a ride on the Seattle Great Wheel (no one else wanted to go, so I didn’t actually ride ON it, but I got a picture of it, lol). And I took ideas for Lincoln’s thickly wooded property from our walk in the woods. There was a nod to Ivar’s restaurant near Pike Place Market where Christene bought the famous clam chowder. I’m still kicking myself for not trying some. Next time"

We can't wait for next time either! :) And, we're so in love with the  bachelors in The Cove!! You can read the newest release here:

Author Holly Stevenson's new book "Her Flyboy Billionaire Boss" has been widely acclaimed. We think it's because of where she gets her inspiration. :)

"I pull largely from my own experiences. My motto is to live life to the fullest, and then there will be plenty to write about. I love to visit and study different cultures and climates, wondering what life is like for other people. (Any fellow people watchers out there? New York City is an absolute Mecca for this). When I can’t travel, I like to watch travel shows and documentaries. Occasionally I get story ideas from a cool dream, but more often than not, an idea will stem from somewhere I’ve visited. I’m incurably romantic, so of course there has to be a romantic plot involved. (Fun tidbit, I almost always include some element of my husband into the male main character. My husband has his private pilot’s license, and is a hopeless tease, so he and Lincoln have that in common). He was one of my favorite male characters to write thus far. "

Each time an author puts together a book, they get to know the main characters. Some authors spend hours mapping out characters before they write a word of the first draft. Other authors get to know them along the way.

We're just going to introduce you right here and then you can discover more about them as you read "Her Flyboy Billionaire Boss."

There’s no adventure twenty-eight-year-old Kate Coleman isn’t up for. With her glossy brown hair and sky-blue eyes, she turns heads wherever she goes. When not busy serving passengers in-flight, she can be found exploring the woods or shoreline of whatever new destination she comes across. Lincoln Pierce is an incorrigible tease. With his rugged good looks and sly-boy charm, this thirty-two-year-old billionaire has stolen his fair share of hearts. But thus far, he hasn’t found anyone or anything that compares to his first love---flying.

We've been anxiously awaiting the release of "Her Flyboy Billionaire Boss" by the talented author Holly Stevenson for weeks. And now we finally get to tell you about the book!!

Kate Coleman isn’t looking for love—especially not at 30,000 feet. She enjoys her career as a flight attendant, but it isn’t enough to pay for her Dad’s ever-increasing medical bills. When she’s unexpectedly offered a job as a corporate flight attendant—at three times her current salary—it seems like an answer to prayer. However, Kate’s growing attraction to her roguish employer could lead to turbulence ahead.

Lincoln Pierce has two loves in life: airplanes and money. With all the time he spends personally delivering private jets from Pierce Airways to clients in the Middle East, having a reliable flight attendant is key to his success. But the woman hired for the position sends his world into a tailspin. How is he supposed to focus on business transactions with the beautiful and mysterious Kate Coleman constantly in his view?

As her employer, Lincoln can hardly make a move, and Kate isn’t willing to do anything to jeopardize her job. The attraction between them grows palpable and jealous coworkers enter the mix, forcing Lincoln and Kate to question if rough skies are in their future, or if love lies on the horizon.

Where do you get ideas for writing a book?

2/12/2019

Dear Readers,
We asked Author Erica Penrod where she gets her ideas for writing books. Here's what she had to say:

"The first time I felt inspired to write a book was because of a random picture I saw in my mind. When I think about the memory now, there’s a dream like feeling associated with the event. I’m not sure if I dreamed it or not, but the image of a girl on a bench beneath a massive tree and a horse racing towards her captured my attention so vividly, I had to tell her story. Now when I write, I usually think of a situation, one so bound up with emotion, unraveling the details leads me to a romance story waiting to happen."

Book Excerpt from "Her Brilliant Cowboy Billionaire"

Dear Reader,

We love to share excerpts from our favorite books. Check this one out!

“Let’s check out the art pieces in the auction.” She gently led him towards the first painting, expertly weaving through the throng. Jamon tried to smile at people as they passed. He didn’t see anyone on the list of “must meets” Gemma had given him. Then again, the thumbnails were a blur and he wasn’t sure he’d be able to match the pictures to the real people.
About a dozen easels were placed around the room, each holding a canvas of an original painting done by various world-renowned artists, Gemma explained. Jamon nodded to keep her talking. No matter how long he stared or how much money he had, some of the paintings looked like a five-year-old had gotten hold of a paintbrush; a squiggly line was a squiggly line.
“If I buy one of these, do I have to keep it?” Jamon frowned at the picture in front of them. Three thick purple lines circled in and out of one another. A light grey line slashed through all three, and a half dozen thinner ovals, grouped in threes, made up the final product.
Gemma stared at the image with appreciation. Something in her expression had changed. Her eyes held a note of serenity he had yet to see in her hard-nosed business persona. He stepped closer, and her vanilla and lace fragrance filled his head. He glanced back at the painting. Anything to put that look on her face was worth any price tag. “You like this?”
She swallowed as if she were trying to hold back her emotions and nodded. “It reminds me of dancing. Expression through the ebb and flow of the lines, the extensions and points, the eloquence.” Gemma seemed lost in a world of her own, one he couldn’t begin to relate to. His only experience with dance was the country swing. While he had a good time doing it, the movement didn’t evoke any emotional ties. “I love it,” she whispered.
Jamon’s world suddenly shifted. He wasn’t seeing the painting in a new light; he was seeing Gemma. The real Gemma. A woman who was passionate about dance, who loved it with her whole soul and could find pieces of it in swirls and lines. The love transformed her, and seeing her soul, Jamon was transformed too. He suddenly wanted to get closer, to see this side of her again, to feel her next to him. He gazed at Gemma. The soft flesh of her neck was exposed, and Jamon’s mouth puckered with the need to press a kiss to her soft skin. He’d lie down and let this temptress walk all over him if he wasn’t careful. “Let’s make a bid on it.” Jamon let his arm fall and catch her hand as if the action were the most natural thing in the world. “Where do I go?”

Dear Readers,

It's true that one of our authors' main goals is to create characters that come to life. We talk about them as if they are real people and we know them by name. :) We'd like you to meet the main characters from the new release "Her Brilliant Cowboy Billionaire."

Meet Gemma Stonewall:
Gemma Stonewall, a former professional ballerina, now a public relations specialist, prefers all her pencils sharp. She’s had her heart broke before and the last thing she on her to do list is fall in love with a cowboy.  Meet Jamon West:
Jamon West,  a hunky cowboy with a brilliant mind, and a Texas sized heart. New to money and new to Seattle, Jamon is a little rough around the edges, but it’s nothing a beautiful assistant couldn’t smooth out.

To "meet" these characters, pick up a copy of "Her Brilliant Cowboy Billionaire" by clicking here.

Dear Readers,

We put together an author interview with Erica Penrod, the talent behind the book, "Her Brilliant Cowboy Billionaire." Check it out...
Q. Tell us a few of your favorite things.
A few of my favorite things are movie theaters, riding horses with my family, and vacuum tracks. I enjoy lunch with friends, a weekend of binge watching a tv series, and wearing fuzzy socks. And if you can’t find me in the grocery store, I’m usually on the cleaning aisle inhaling the lemon fresh scent.

Q. Can you share a few fun author facts?
Whenever I start a new book, I usually have a scene in mind and from there, I fill in the blanks. Who are these characters? Why are they here and where do they go from here? I usually begin a chapter or two before I outline any more and even then I only outline a few chapters at a time. My characters have been known to do or say something or go somewhere I never expected. Many times I’m excited to find out what happens next as my fingers hit the keyboard.

Q. What was the best part about the research trip to Seattle?
My favorite part of the Seattle trip was trying to maneuver the skinny streets of Seattle in a minivan. Six other authors, most of whom I hadn’t met before all buckled up in one car was a blast. I enjoyed seeing the Space Needle in person, and other landmarks I’d only seen on screen or in pictures. Another thing I found interesting about Seattle was how many people had dogs with them wherever we went.

Q. Do you have a favorite or fun quote?
From Gone with the Wind. “Well, I won’t think about this now. I’ll think about it tomorrow.”

We hope you've enjoyed getting to know Erica a bit more. To pick up a copy of her book, click here.

Today is the official release day of "Her Brilliant Cowboy Billionaire" by Erica Penrod. Here's a teaser for the book:

Jamon West is out of his element in the neighborhood full of old-money billionaires and tech geniuses. Can Gemma Stone transform him into a respectable Seattle billionaire without losing her heart to this Texas cowboy in the process?
